All it so the topic of the day is whether or not link building is dead. Do you need to build links in this day and age in order to get page one, Google rankings? All right. So recently I've been receiving emails from fellow debats stating that they read somewhere out there on the internet that you no longer have to build links.
The trick nowadays is to build high retention, high quality web content. Now I read that article, I know who they're referring to, and there is some truth to that. If you don't have high quality web content, what's going to happen is that content will lose its ranking very quickly. So even if you manage to hit page one with all the back lining in the world, it's going to drop out really literally within a matter of days or weeks.
All right. So there is truth in that hypertension web content is a good part of the equation. However, to get your site up onto that page one ranking, you need backlinks to do it all right. So I tested this out recently after getting those emails. I decided, just as a test, I would take a few of my videos that are ranking pretty well on Google.
In total, they made about $300 a month giver take, and I decided to stop building links to those videos. All right, so those videos were ranking for about two or three years and sure enough, after stopped building links, they lost their page one ranking. All right now on the flipside, what I decided to do was build a brand-new affiliate campaign and build no links to it. It was about five to ten pages and, sure enough, no traffic at all.
All right. So links are still crucial in order to get your sites not only ranked, but for older content to hold those rankings much longer than you know. Normally, if you, if you stop building links to it all right now, there are three kinds of backlinks that I recommend that you build this. And the first is any kind of backlink that increases social signals.
So anything between social bookmarking to adding your content to Google plus twitter, facebook et cetera et cetera, all right, so that's going to help increase your social signals, which signal to Google that real people actually like your stuff. All right, so getting your links on social media web properties, getting shares, likes tweets, et cetera, increase your search engine rankings, especially for new pieces of web content.
The second type of backing that is very powerful nowadays are private blog networks. All right. So here is a 100% white hat way to quickly build a private blog network. First thing you do is you going to set up a series of three to five WordPress installs? All right, so the could be cheap domain names that you have relatively related to whatever niche market that you're trying to rank in. Then-head on over to five and find a cheap five dollar per article writer and have them write five pieces of content per mini site that you're trying to rank all it.
So let's just say the block: your private blog network is three blocks. Five dollars times five is $2575 to build a high quality private blog network that will not only increase your searching rains but send traffic to your money sites all ight. So that's a 100% white hat way to do it. The third way to get valuable backlinks are press releases. All right now there is kind of an art to writing, a proper press release that needs to low a certain style of writing.
I recommend that you hire a writer to do that. You can also get qualified press release writers over at five dot com. Some of them will also distribute the press release to various press release networks. All right, so you want to make sure that you go with a white hat provider. Do not get any Hing on five. That says it's going to give you thousands of backlinks, tens of thousands of backlinks.
You don't want any of that. Make sure whatever you do on five is manual and 100% white hat. All right, they are out there. It takes a little bit of digging, but it's worth it once you find them all right.
